A vacant, two-storey home in Winnipeg’s William Whyte neighbourhood has caught fire for the fourth time in a year, and second time in less than two weeks, the city says.
Reports of a fire at the boarded-up home on Redwood Avenue, between Andrews and Aikins streets, came in shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, the city said in a news release.
Fire crews used hose lines to extinguish the blaze, which was brought under control shortly after 11:30 a.m.
No one was found inside and no injuries were reported, the city said.
The house had been damaged by previous fires in November and December 2023, as well as on Oct. 16.
The cause of Sunday’s blaze is under investigation.
The city says anyone who sees boarded windows or doors that have been broken into, but didn’t see someone entering or attempting to, should report it to 311..
