Body of 55-year-old southwestern Manitoba man missing since October found in pond: RCMP

The body of a 55-year-old man reported missing in southwestern Manitoba last October has been found, RCMP say, but his death is not believed to be criminal in nature.

Last Saturday, items that belonged to Jamie Wade, 55, were found by RCMP in a pond in the rural municipality of Oakview, north of Brandon, according to a Friday news release.

Following a search assisted by an underwater recovery team, his body was found in that pond a day later, RCMP say.

An autopsy into his death found it was not criminal in nature.

Wade was last seen at a gas station in Brandon at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2023, and it was believed he returned from there to his home in the RM of Oakview, police previously said.

They conducted unsuccessful searches and planned more intensive searches, RCMP said in November.
