People in Gimli have been dealing with a boil water advisory this May long weekend due to a power failure that led to pump failures at the town’s water treatment facility.

A boil water advisory has been in effect for the municipality since Saturday, according to the town’s website.

The water pump is now operating normally, but the town’s website says the boil water advisory is still in effect.

Residents are being told to boil their water before drinking it or using it in preparing food or brushing teeth, but it is not necessary to boil tap water for doing laundry and washing dishes, the advisory says. Adults can also bathe using the water for now, but young children should be sponge-bathed.
