Boy, 16, hit by train in Winnipeg suffered ‘life-altering injuries,’ police say

A 16-year-old boy hit by a train in south Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon sustained life-altering injuries, police say.

Police say incident appears accidental, urge people to be cautious by rail lines

A 16-year-old boy hit by a train in south Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon sustained life-altering injuries, police say.

Emergency crews were called around 4:30 p.m. to the train tracks that run parallel to Pembina Highway, near Bison Drive.

The teen was rushed to hospital in critical condition, later upgraded to stable condition.

The Winnipeg Police Service and CN police are working together to investigate, but say the incident appears accidental.

The public is urged to exercise extreme caution around active rail lines, the WPS says in a news release.
