The Manitoba government chose Earth Day to announce it is restoring funding to three environmental non-profit organizations: Climate Change Connection, Green Action Centre and Manitoba Eco-Network.

The province made the announcement in a news release on Monday in which it also blasted the previous Progressive Conservative government for cutting funding to the organizations “instead of taking action on climate change.”

As part of the revived funding, Climate Change Connection is getting $100,000 “to advance awareness, capacity building and action on climate change” across the province, according to the release.

A grant of $230,000 is going to Green Action Centre “to help advance climate action on adaptation planning, the circular economy, active transportation and outreach initiatives.”

And the Manitoba Eco-Network will receive $60,000 “to help further inner-city climate adaptation work in Winnipeg through the Climate Safe, Green City project, the release says.
