A 49-year-old man is dead and a 21-year-old man is charged with manslaughter after an assault in northern Manitoba.

A 49-year-old man is dead and a 21-year-old man is charged with manslaughter after an assault in northern Manitoba.

RCMP were called around 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning to a home on Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation (also known as Norway House Cree Nation), about 460 kilometres north of Winnipeg.

The 49-year-old man was taken to the local hospital before being airlifted to Winnipeg for further treatment. He died from his injuries in hospital on Monday, RCMP said in a news release.

Chevy Tait, 21, is charged with manslaughter as well as two counts of failing to comply with a prior court orders.

Police did not release the name of the victim or any other information about him. They also did not say if the two men knew each other.
