A 50-year-old man drowned in a lake in northeastern Manitoba on Saturday evening, RCMP say.
The man was on Family Lake near Little Grand Rapids with two other men when the boat’s motor stopped working, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
While the three men were trying to fix the motor, the 50-year-old man fell into the water and didn’t resurface.
One of the men jumped into the water but wasn’t able to pull the drowning man to safety.
Both of the men rowed back to Little Grand Rapids to find help, RCMP said.
Community members and band constables returned to the area and located the deceased man in the water.
Officers were called to the lake at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday to recover the man’s body from the water.
Mounties said an autopsy confirmed the man had drowned.
