A serious overnight assault in Winnipeg’s North End has left a man dead.

A serious overnight assault in Winnipeg’s North End has left a man dead.

Police were called just after 3 a.m. on Thursday to a corner of Selkirk Avenue and McKenzie Street, where they found the man outside. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he died from his injuries, police said in a news release.

The intersection has been closed since that time as investigators examine the scene.

No details on the man’s age or identity are available at this time. Police say they are still attempting to notify his family.

Police are asking anyone with information, including possible video surveillance, to call the homicide unit at 204-986-6508 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers 204-786-8477.
