A 30-year-old man wanted in the death of a 26-year-old found injured in Winnipeg’s West End in February has been arrested, nearly two months after police identified him as a suspect in the killing.
Tyron Custer Harper, 30, is charged with second-degree murder. He was arrested on Friday and has been detained in custody, Winnipeg police said in a news release the same day.
He was identified in April as a suspect in the killing of Kevin Delaney Flett, 26, who died in hospital after being found injured in the area of Maryland Street and Wellington Avenue around 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 25.
Flett got emergency medical care and was rushed in critical condition to hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Investigators determined he died after being assaulted with a weapon.
Flett was a member of St. Theresa Point First Nation, police said, which is about 460 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
