Man who died after Friday night shooting identified by Winnipeg police

A man who died after he was shot on Friday night had just recently moved to Winnipeg, police say.

Police responded to a report of a man shot on Flora Avenue, between McGregor and Parr streets, shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, according to a Monday news release.

The man was found at a nearby home and received emergency medical care by police for a serious gunshot wound, police say.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police say they have identified the man as Bill Brian Duck, 28. His family has been notified.

Duck was a member of God’s Lake Narrows First Nation who had recently moved to Winnipeg.

Police ask that anyone with information about Duck’s death, including witnesses or people with home surveillance in the area, contact homicide investigators at 204-986-6508, anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or on their website.
