A school bus operator in Manitoba is accused of driving with children on board while his blood-alcohol level was double the legal limit, according to police.
The 58-year-old man was stopped and arrested in Waywayseecappo First Nation on Monday by members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service, a Wednesday news release from the police service said.
Officers were called about a possible impaired driver on Procure Road around 9:30 a.m., police said. They found the bus and determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol.
He was arrested and transported to the detachment, where samples of his breath resulted in readings of double the legal limit.
Police had no information on how many children were on board at the time. No one was injured.
The man has since been released on a notice to attend court at a later date.
Waywayseecappo is 110 kilometres northwest of Brandon.
