Maternity services at Brandon Regional Health Centre reinstated for Thursday

A planned disruption of maternity services at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, slated to start on Thursday morning, has been cancelled.

The Prairie Mountain Health Region had said earlier Wednesday that the hospital experienced the “unexpected absence of a medical provider.”

Efforts to find coverage by provincial and regional health providers to fill in the gap had been unsuccessful, leaving Brandon’s hospital without maternity services for 24 hours, starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

But later on Wednesday, a spokesperson for Prairie Mountain Health Region said maternity services at the hospital will no longer experience a disruption on Thursday, after securing medical coverage.
