Male taken to hospital after collision Friday afternoon, police say
Winnipeg police say a pedestrian was taken to hospital Friday afternoon after being hit by a train in the city’s Transcona neighbourhood.
The collision happened just before 5 p.m. at a level train crossing on Peguis Street, between Concordia Avenue and Prairie Crocus Drive, according to a police spokesperson.
The area of the collision was closed to traffic for about four hours, the spokesperson said, before being reopened shortly after 9 p.m.
The pedestrian who was hit was a male, but the spokesperson didn’t know the person’s age or his condition.
The collision is being investigated by the Winnipeg Police Service’s traffic division.
