Police shut down Winnipeg intersection after overnight assault

A serious overnight assault in Winnipeg’s North End has closed an intersection for a police investigation.

Expect Selkirk Avenue at McKenzie Street to be closed most of the morning, police say

A serious overnight assault in Winnipeg’s North End has closed an intersection for a police investigation.

Yellow tape and evidence markers have been placed across Selkirk Avenue and McKenzie Street.

Police were called there just after 3 a.m. but have not released any details on what happened, other than it was an assault.

They expect to be at the scene for most of the morning.

The public is being asked to avoid the area.
