Parts of Manitoba are under severe thunderstorm warnings from Environment and Climate Change Canada on Sunday afternoon.
The following areas are under the warnings, which were issued after 5 p.m. Sunday:
- Municipality of Tache including Lorette, Ste-Geneviève and Landmark.
- Municipality of Ste. Anne including Richer.
- Municipality of WestLake-Gladstone including Plumas and Langruth.
- Falcon Lake and West Hawk Lake.
- Municipality of Reynolds including Ste. Rita, Hadashville and Rennie.
The storms are capable of producing strong winds, heavy rain and hail that is up to the size of a nickel, ECCC says.
People should take immediate cover under threatening weather conditions, as severe thunderstorms can create tornadoes, the weather agency says.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when approaching or occurring thunderstorms are likely to create or are already creating either large hail, damaging winds and heavy rains.
