Manitoba’s only French-language university was evacuated on Thursday morning after police were told about a suspicious package on campus, which has since been deemed harmless.
Winnipeg police were called about a suspicious package at St. Boniface University shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, they said.
Officers have since determined the package was harmless, a police spokesperson said around 10:30 a.m.
The school’s buildings had been evacuated and a police bomb squad was sent in, police said earlier.
Classes were cancelled for students and staff, the university previously told Radio-Canada.
