Winnipeg man charged with child pornography offences after pre-pubescent sex doll seized at border

A 45-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged after a sex doll anatomically designed to look like a pre-pubescent child was intercepted by the Canada Border Services Agency in Vancouver.

The package containing the doll, from China, was seized late last month with a Winnipeg address as its destination.

The Winnipeg Police Service internet child exploitation (ICE) unit was alerted and launched an investigation, a police news release said Thursday.

Police searched the man’s home in the Fort Richmond area on Sept. 4 and found approximately 20 other anatomically correct dolls, ranging from newborns to early teens.

Those were not sex dolls but toys easily obtained anywhere, though some had their bodies physically altered, police said, without further explanation.

The man was charged with:

  • Possessing child pornography
  • Importing, distributing, selling or possessing child pornography for the purpose of distribution or sale.
  • Making, printing, publishing or possessing child pornography for the purpose of publication.

Anyone aware of child pornography is urged to call police at 204-986-6222 or make an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers by phone at 204-786-TIPS (8477) or through the website, or at Cybertip.ca.
