Winnipeg police block Portage and Arlington area for ‘serious investigation’

Winnipeg police have blocked off an area near Portage Avenue and Arlington Street after responding to a call early Sunday morning.

Winnipeg police have blocked off an area near Portage Avenue and Arlington Street after responding to a call early Sunday morning.

Police spokesperson Jason Michalyshen told CBC News police are at the scene for a “serious investigation” after officers were called there for “an individual requiring assistance” at about 2:20 a.m.

He said there is currently no risk to the public.

Stains of blood could be seen on a sidewalk along Portage. Evidence markers were also placed in the area.

Police blocked off eastbound Portage near Arlington as well as southbound Arlington, just north of Portage, according to a social media post. They are asking drivers to avoid the area.
