Winnipeg police investigating after woman stabbed on Main Street

Winnipeg police are investigating what they described as a serious assault along Main Street Saturday morning.

A woman is recovering from serious injuries after being stabbed on Main Street early Saturday morning. 

Winnipeg police say they were called to the area around 6 a.m. According to a police release, officers found the woman with “multiple injuries consistent with being assaulted with an edged weapon.”

Yellow police tape stretched from the Manwin Hotel to the entrance of Main Street Project, near Logan Avenue, on Saturday morning. Multiple police cars were on scene along with members of the forensics unit. 

The woman was taken to hospital in unstable condition, but later upgraded to stable, according to police.
