A man was taken to hospital after he was stabbed at a restaurant parking lot in Winnipeg, police say.

Multiple people were involved in a brawl shortly after midnight Sunday outside the Smitty’s on St. James Street, police spokesperson Jason Michalyshen told CBC News.

Police applied a tourniquet and chest seal to the man before he was taken to hospital.

He is now in stable condition but suffered a “major injury” to his lower extremities, Michalyshen said.

Officers were still at the scene later Sunday morning and had taped off part of the parking lot.
