Woman dies after vehicle-pedestrian collision near Portage Avenue

A pedestrian is dead after a collision with a vehicle Sunday evening. 

Police were called about the collision at Portage Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard just before 11 p.m. 

The female pedestrian was treated by paramedics on scene and rushed to hospital in critical condition, but died from her injuries, says a news release from Winnipeg police. 

The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and spoke with investigating officers. 

Winnipeg police are still investigating the incident and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have video footage of it to contact traffic division investigators at 204-986-7085 or submit information anonymously via Crime Stoppers by calling 204-786-8477 (TIPS) or online via winnipegcrimestoppers.org

Corrections

  • A previous version of this story stated a cyclist died after the collision, according to a police news release. In fact, the Winnipeg Police Service issued an update stating the person who died was actually a pedestrian.
