A woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition after being hit by a semi-trailer in Winnipeg on Thursday evening.

Police were called around 7 p.m. to Henderson Highway near Leighton Avenue in the East Kildonan area.

A city transit bus could be seen parked against the curb in the northbound lane, near the Northdale Shopping Centre. A semi with the Sobeys supermarket logo was parked next to it in the middle lane.

Police evidence tags lined the road near the vehicles and yellow police tape blocked the road as well as access to the shopping centre parking lot.

There was no updated information Friday morning on the woman’s condition, or whether any charges are pending.
