City awards renovation grants to 13 community centres

Winnipeg, MBThirteen City-owned community centres will receive funding for renovations through the City of Winnipeg’s Community Centre Renovation Grant Program (CCRGP).

“These grants are an investment in the heart of our neighborhoods — our community centres,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “By supporting renovations and upgrades, we’re ensuring these spaces remain accessible and well-equipped to meet the needs of Winnipeggers, now and for generations to come.”

“The City of Winnipeg is committed to supporting our community centres, which serve as vital hubs for connection, recreation, and engagement across our neighbourhoods,” said Vivian Santos, Chairperson of the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services. “Through these renovation grants, we are helping ensure these facilities remain safe, welcoming, and modern spaces where residents of all ages can come together and thrive.”

The community centres receiving grants totaling $1,104,690 are:

  • Corydon – Sir John Franklin site
  • Dakota
  • Gateway
  • Greendell Park
  • Maples
  • Northwood
  • Notre Dame
  • Oxford Heights
  • Red River
  • Robert A. Steen
  • Sturgeon Heights
  • Tuxedo
  • Weston

The program ensures that City-owned, board-run community centres can access much-needed assistance required to complete facility repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements, and renovation projects.

The program has two intake periods each year: a spring intake in March and a fall intake in October. Since the program’s inception in 2012, the City has invested over $18.5 million towards community centre renovations across Winnipeg.
