The City of Winnipeg is making progress toward selecting a new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) by issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) today to hire a consultant to assist in the search process. The new CAO will play a critical role in shaping the City’s leadership, operations, and future growth.
The CAO Hiring Committee, publicly announced earlier this year, will oversee the recruitment process. The committee consists of:
- Mayor Scott Gillingham
- Councillor Janice Lukes (Waverley West)
- Councillor Jeff Browaty (North Kildonan)
- Councillor Ross Eadie (Mynarski)
- Councillor Devi Sharma (Old Kildonan)
“We’re looking for a CAO who will foster a ‘Yes First’ service culture, push for innovative solutions to problems, and build strong partnerships with other governments, the business community, and the non-profit sector,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “Above all, we need someone who can lead a high-performing team and help us deliver better service to Winnipeggers.”
The consultant hired through the RFP will work with the CAO Hiring Committee to conduct an extensive, professional search process to identify and attract the best candidate for the role. This search aligns with the City’s commitment to enhancing leadership, improving service delivery, and fostering collaboration to better serve the community.
A unique element of the RFP requires the consultant to engage with the business community and leaders of large, diverse organizations comparable in size and scope to the City of Winnipeg. Their insights will help identify the qualities and expertise needed for an effective CAO and will inform the Selection Committee’s decision-making process.
