On June 13, 2024, at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a driver waving a gun out of his vehicle window in a parking lot in the 200 block of Maryland Street.
Central District General Patrol located the vehicle entering a drive-thru and took the male driver and a female passenger into custody. A starter pistol (imitation handgun) along with approximately $350,000 worth of illicit drugs were seized:
- 3.1 kilograms of Methamphetamine (estimated street value of $319,000)
- 67 grams of Fentanyl (estimated street value of $26,000)
- 32 grams of Cocaine (estimated street value of $3,200)
- Percocet pills (estimated street value of $1,200)
- $2,700 Canadian currency
A 24-year-old male, Exekielle AMURAO of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences and detained in custody.
- Operation of a Conveyance While Prohibited by Order Under Criminal Code
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
A 29-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing the following drug trafficking charges and was released on an Undertaking.
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
- Possession of a Weapon
