Update:

The Homicide Unit continued its investigation into the murder of 49-year-old Ricky Dwayne MANCHEESE in the 400 block of Kennedy Street on the morning of June 11, 2024.

Investigators have identified the suspect as 36-year-old Matthew Gerald Tomack PELLETIER of Winnipeg.

On June 12, at approximately 6:00 p.m., investigators arrested PELLETIER without incident. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

PELLETIER was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of Kennedy Street for the report of an injured adult male who had been assaulted. Central District General Patrol officers arrived and located the male who had sustained life-threatening injuries resulting from a stabbing and immediately provided emergency medical care before the arrival of ambulance.

The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased.
