Homicide – Arrest: C24-92003

Update:

On May 6, 2024, at approximately 11:55 p.m., North District officers were patrolling near McGregor Street and Magnus Avenue when a pick-up truck made an evasive turn in front of them.  Police followed the vehicle to Burrows and Parr, where a male exited the vehicle and began running. He was quickly apprehended nearby, where he was identified as a suspect in the homicide of Bill Brian DUCK on April 26. 

50-year-old Adam Joseph MORRISSETTE of Winnipeg was arrested on the strength of a warrant for Second Degree Murder.  MORRISSETTE had a small amount of drugs on his person, and the vehicle was determined to be stolen. 

MORRISSETTE has been charged with the following:

  • Warrant: Second Degree Murder
  • Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance x 2

The accused and the deceased were not known to each other.
 

As previously released:

On April 26, 2024, at approximately 8:45 p.m., General Patrol members from the Central District, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, responded to the report of a male who had been shot in the 600 block of Flora Avenue.

The victim was located at a nearby residence. Police performed emergency medical care for a serious gunshot wound, and the victim was transported to hospital in critical condition.

28-year-old Bill Brian DUCK later succumbed to his injuries. DUCK was a member of God’s Lake Narrows First Nation but had recently been residing in Winnipeg. Family notifications have been made, and investigators from the Homicide Unit are seeking public assistance.
