Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg is exploring what a new outdoor aquatic park in St. Boniface could look like and where it could go, and is inviting residents to provide input to help us create a space that is fun, welcoming and better meets future recreation needs in the neighbourhood.
“I’m happy to see plans for a new outdoor aquatic park in St. Boniface progressing and we look forward to hearing from residents on what features they’d like to see,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham. “As we look to replace aging facilities, we’re focused on creating accessible and more dynamic facilities to better meet Winnipeg’s current and future recreation needs.”
Residents can provide their input on potential sites, criteria, and amenities either through an online survey, which is available until December 4, 2024, or by attending an open house at the Champlain Community Centre, 282 Niverville Ave., on November 14, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“This is an exciting opportunity for community members to help shape a space that will serve generations to come,” said Matt Allard, Councillor for St. Boniface. “I encourage St. Boniface residents to take part, whether through the survey or at the open house, to help ensure this project reflects the needs and expectations of our neighbourhood.”
The City expects to have a preferred location and cost estimate for a new aquatic park later this winter for Council’s consideration.
