Robbery with a Weapon – Investigation: C24-188333

On August 14, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an assault on security personnel who were checking the area of a community centre in the 500 block of King Street.

Officers from the North District located the victim, in his 20s, who had an injury to his arm. He indicated he had been robbed of his cell phone by a male armed with an axe/hatchet. He was struck with the weapon, and the suspect ran off.

Emergency medical care was provided to the victim, and he was treated in hospital.

A description of the suspect was provided and he was taken into custody by police nearby on Euclid Avenue.

A male in his 20s faces robbery and weapons related charges and remains in police custody at this time.
