On May 30, 2024, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a stabbing in the 500 block of Portage Avenue.

A passenger on a bus observed a male get stabbed by another male, who then rode away on a bike. Another call came to the police by a passerby.

Officers from the Central District located the victim bleeding profusely and applied emergency medical care, including a life-saving chest seal. The victim, in his 30s, was transported to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to a stable condition. He reported being robbed of his bike and stabbed by an unknown suspect.

The Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation.
