On July 31, 2024, at approximately 1:18 a.m., West District Community Support Unit (CSU) members observed a stolen white Ford 350 being driven in the Varsity View neighbourhood.
With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST) and West District General Patrol officers, a follow of the vehicle was initiated in an attempt to bring the vehicle to a stop.
Officers requested assistance from the Flight Operations Unit (Air 1), which quickly acquired the stolen vehicle and provided visual containment information to ground units.
A lengthy follow ensued, lasting approximately forty minutes, extending to the West Perimeter and the municipality of Headingley. Several successful stop sticks were deployed, resulting in the vehicle coming to a stop at Charleswood Road and Roblin Boulevard. No collisions or injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
Officers subsequently confirmed that the 2006 Ford 350 Lariat had previously been reported stolen from Portage la Prairie.
