Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to a fire on Aberdeen Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 5:03 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a house in the 500 block of Aberdeen Avenue.

At the scene, crews saw heavy flames and smoke coming from the house. Firefighters launched an offensive attack, declaring the fire under control at 6:01 a.m.

All occupants got out of the building safely before crews arrived. One firefighter sustained a minor injury.

The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team responded to the scene to provide temporary support to evacuated residents. No injuries were reported.

No damage estimates are available. The fire is under investigation.

Residents should use caution in the area, as water used to fight the fire has frozen and created slippery conditions. City of Winnipeg crews will be monitoring conditions and applying sand and de-icing agents to roadways and sidewalks as required to improve traction.
