Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Euclid Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:58 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of fire at the Holy Ascension Greek Orthodox Church on Euclid Avenue.

Smoke was coming from the building when crews arrived on scene. They entered the church and launched an offensive attack, using hose lines to put the fire out. It was declared under control at 3:15 p.m.

Firefighters completed a search of the building and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.

The fire caused significant damage. The church also had previous water and heat damage from fires at a nearby building on Main Street in 2021 and 2023.

 WFPS’ Accelerant Detection K9 was deployed to assist fire investigators at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
