Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Manitoba Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 7:23 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey converted residential dwelling.

Upon arrival on scene, crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure. They entered and fought the fire from the interior, declaring the fire under control at 8:46 p.m.

All occupants of the building safely self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. The City of Winnipeg’s Emergency Social Services team was deployed to assist displaced residents in finding temporary accommodations.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
