Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Nairn Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 10:44 p.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a fire in a vacant, bungalow in the 300 block of Nairn Avenue.

When crews arrived to the location, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house. The initially applied water to the fire from the exterior until it was safe to enter. They transitioned to an interior fire attack and declared the fire under control at 11:14 p.m.

Crews completed a search of the structure, and no occupants were found. There were no injuries reported.

The fire remains under investigation. The house had sustained previous damage in a fire on September 19, 2024. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

If residents see someone actively entering a vacant structure, or removing boards from windows or doors, they should report the incident immediately by calling the Winnipeg Police Service at 911.

Anyone who sees that boarded windows or doors have been breached, but did not see someone actively entering or attempting to enter a structure, should report the incident to 311.
