Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fire on Simpson Avenue

Winnipeg, MB – At 1:08 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to reports of a fire in a single-family bungalow in the 1000 block of Simpson Avenue.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found heavy smoke coming from the house. They entered and launched an interior fire attack, declaring the fire under control at 1:34 p.m.

All occupants self-evacuated prior to the arrival of crews. One individual was assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital. There were no other injuries reported.

Preliminary observations suggest the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical malfunction. The house sustained significant smoke, fire and water damages. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
