Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to two fires yesterday evening and two this morning.
Queensway Crescent fire
At 8:14 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2024, WFPS crews responded to a monitored fire alarm in a single-family bungalow on Queensway Crescent.
Upon arrival at the scene, crews found smoke coming from the house. They entered and fought the fire from inside, declaring the fire under control at 8:51 p.m.
All occupants safely self-evacuated from the house prior to the arrival of crews. No injuries were reported. Crews rescued one dog from the house. The dog was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time.
Higgins Avenue fire
At 8:27 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2024, the WFPS responded to reports of a fire at a commercial property in the 0 to 100 block of Higgins Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found a fire on the exterior building. They quickly launched a fire attack and were able to stop the fire from extending to the structure. The fire was declared under control at 8:48 p.m.
No injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation.
McMillian Avenue fire
At 5:52 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, the WFPS responded to reports of a garage fire in the 700 block of McMillan Avenue.
When crews arrived to the scene, they found a well-involved fire, with heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. The fire was declared under control at 6:15 a.m.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
Battery Street fire
At 8:24 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, WFPS crews responded to reports of a fire in a two-storey, multi-family building on Battery Street.
When crews arrived, they found smoke in the building. They quickly knocked down the fire.
No injuries were reported.
The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are not available at this time.
