One person is in hospital following a fire early Monday morning.
Just after 3 a.m., fire crews responded to a two-storey home in the 300 block of Alfred Avenue.
Smoke could be seen coming from the house when crews arrived, and there were reports that someone was trapped inside.
Firefighters quickly got to work, locating and removing the person from the building. Paramedics assessed the patient at the scene and transported them to hospital in critical condition.
Crews also located several pets in the home. Two cats and one dog perished in the fire, while four kittens were removed from the home safely.
The fire was declared under control at 4 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
