A male is in custody following an assault on a transit bus.
On January 14, 2025, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a transit bus stopped at Osborne Street and Bartlett Avenue where General Patrol officers from the West District arrived and personnel were holding a male suspect.
The male passenger was the only passenger left on the bus and had been behaving erratically by swearing, clenching his fists, and ringing the bell but not getting off the bus.
The driver called for assistance and stopped the bus. A transit supervisor and another employee boarded the bus and assisted with the situation.
Without provocation, the accused swung at the supervisor. He was restrained and escorted off the bus to wait for police. The victim was not injured.
A 21-year-old male from Winnipeg was charged with assault and detained in custody.
