26-year-old man arrested after robbing Osborne Village business

A 26-year-old man is in custody after robbing a retail business in the Osborne Village area on Tuesday evening. 

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on January 28, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a commercial business in the 400 block of River Avenue for the report of a Commercial Robbery.

A male suspect was located standing outside of the store by West District General Patrol officers. He was taken into custody without incident.  

During the investigation, officers learned that the suspect attended the commercial business and put store merchandise into his backpack. He brandished a small edge weapon when security confronted him and left the store without paying for the merchandise. 

No injuries were reported following the incident and all the merchandise was recovered. 

A search of the suspect revealed several break-in tools.

A 26-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery and Possession of Break In Instrument(s).

He was detained in custody.
