48-year-old motorcyclist dead following serious crash west of Brandon

A 48-year-old man from Brandon is dead following a collision Tuesday evening about 26 kilometres west of Brandon.

Emergency crews were called to Highway 250, approximately 10 kilometres north of Highway 1 at around 5:15 p.m. yesterday where they found a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old man from Brandon was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 37-year-old female driver and lone occupant of the SUV, from Souris suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital and has since been released.

Blue Hills RCMP say that the SUV was travelling northbound on Highway 250 when it crossed the centre line at a curve in the road and struck the southbound motorcycle.

The female was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.
