The canopy rink at The Forks has officially opened for the season.
With temperatures reaching well below zero and expected to stay that way for the foreseeable future, it made for the perfect conditions to get the outdoor rink up and ready.
This is the first skating surface to open at The Forks this winter, with hopes the on-land trails, rink by CN Stage and the Nestaweya River trail will follow soon.
A skate change area is available in The Forks Market atrium to keep visitors warm while they lace up.
Those looking to have some winter fun can bring their own skates or rent a pair from Iceland Skate Rentals, which offers both hockey and figure skates in all sizes.
Visitors are encouraged to check on ice conditions before arriving on The Forks website.
Last year, warm weather led to an early closure of the popular skating destination.
