City to offer free outdoor pool access during August long weekend

Winnipeggers looking for a place to cool down this summer will soon have free access to all City of Winnipeg outdoor pools.

As part of the Winnipeg 150 celebrations, Mayor Scott Gillingham and Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood councillor, Evan Duncan, announced on Thursday that access to outdoor pools in the city will be free of charge over the August long weekend.

“Having our pools accessible to all over August long, is a fantastic way to celebrate Winnipeg 150 and summer in our great city,” said Councillor Evan Duncan. “Free admission for all will help ensure that more residents can enjoy a fun-filled weekend with family and friends.”

The cost of free admission will be covered by the Mayor’s Office and the Charleswood – Tuxedo – Westwood Ward Land Dedication Reserve Fund.

“By providing free access to our outdoor pools over the August long weekend, we are encouraging everyone to take part in the Winnipeg 150 festivities, and enjoy the summer,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham.

The outdoor pools can be found at several locations across the city.
