Cooking fire damages West End home

Three people were assessed following a fire Tuesday evening in a West End home.

The fire broke out just after 9:15 p.m. in a one-storey home in the 1000 block of Downing Street.

Smoke was pouring out of the house when crews arrived. They were able to enter the home and battle the fire from inside, declaring it under control just after 9:30 p.m.

Everyone was able to evacuate before crews arrived. Three people were assessed at the scene but did not require a trip to the hospital.

It’s believed the cause of the fire was accidental and related to cooking.
