A 44-year-old Winnipeg man is facing charges following a fatal crash involving a pedestrian.
The collision happened on Dec. 23, 2024, at around 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of McPhillips Street and Leila Avenue.
An 87-year-old man was transported to hospital in unstable condition where he later died of his injuries.
The driver remained at the scene and spoke with police.
An investigation discovered the driver was travelling eastbound on Leila Avenue in a pick-up truck when he struck the victim who was crossing McPhillips Street at a marked pedestrian corridor.
As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old man was arrested on Sunday. He faces a charge of driving carelessly-cause death.
He was released on an appearance notice.
