Firefighter injured in early morning blaze

A firefighter is recovering after being injured while fighting a fire in the city’s William Whyte neighbourhood. 

The blaze broke out just after 5 a.m. in a house in the 500 block of Aberdeen Avenue. 

Flames and smoke were pouring out of the home when crews arrived. Firefighters attacked the blaze from outside of the house, declaring it under control about an hour later. 

All residents of the home were able to evacuate safely. One firefighter sustained a minor injury. No other injuries were reported. 

Fire officials continue to investigate the cause of the blaze.
