Winnipeg police are on the hunt for a man who allegedly tried to abduct two young girls in broad daylight.
Police say the incident took place around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, while the girls, aged 8 and 10, were walking to school near Beaverbrook Street and Centennial Street. Authorities say an unknown man began following the girls and then grabbed one of them by the hand.
In a heroic act, an adult witness intervened, stepping in to stop the situation. The suspect released the girl and fled the area.
The WPS says that the girls were unharmed and made it to school safely, where they reported the incident to an adult.
The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, about six feet tall with a thin build and thin blonde hair.
He was wearing a tan beach hat with a large brim, sunglasses, a tank top, and tropical shorts.
