Home care service face possible delays in Winnipeg after weekend snowstorm

Heavy snowfall over the weekend has led to possible disruptions in community health services, especially with home care.

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority says weather-related service delays or cancellations are possible for clients, due to large amounts of snow, and its impact on transportation and access to clients.

“Every effort will be made to maintain existing schedules,” said the WRHA in a statement. “However, some weather-related delays or cancellations may be inevitable.”

Anyone whose visit will be postponed or cancelled will be contacted by phone and notified of the change. Depending on the nature of the service, some visits could be delayed, rescheduled or cancelled.

Clients wishing to cancel or postpone their own visits are encouraged to contact their case coordinator or nurse.
