Man dead following assault in Weston

A male who resided in Winnipeg is dead following an assault in the Weston neighbourhood on Sunday morning.

On February 2, shortly before 7 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an unresponsive male who had been assaulted in the 300 block of Blake Street.

The male was located by Central District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of K-9 who provided emergency medical care before taking him to the hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead. 

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Justin Boulanger. Boulanger was a member of Berens River First Nation and resided in Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation, and family notifications have been made.
