A man suffered life-altering injuries after being attacked while walking in the West End.
Winnipeg police say the man was walking along Ellice Ave. near Beverley St. at around 4:15 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25, when he was assaulted from behind by a suspect who is believed to have been armed with a machete.
The victim walked to the Health Sciences Centre on William Ave., where Winnipeg police were contacted.
Police say the 56-year-old victim and the suspect are not known to each other. No arrests have been made.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is working to identify the suspect.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, 5’10” in height. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans.
